What are the Differences Between Electrostatic Coating and Ordinary Spraying? Which is Better?
Electrostatic coating and ordinary spraying are two mainstream surface coloring technologies for metal and plastic workpieces. They differ greatly in working principle, coating quality, material cost and environmental performance. The selection depends on workpiece shape, production batch and service scenarios.
Ordinary spraying relies only on air pressure to attach paint mist to workpieces. It can hardly cover dead corners and grooves, leading to uneven coating. Electrostatic coating adopts electrostatic attraction: charged paint mist actively wraps and adheres to grounded workpieces, realizing full coverage without missing spots.

In terms of finished quality, ordinary spraying is prone to sagging, pinholes and peeling, with poor wear and corrosion resistance. Electrostatic coating forms compact and smooth coatings with strong adhesion. It passes standard adhesion tests and features excellent scratch resistance and anti-aging performance.
For cost and environmental protection, ordinary spraying has low paint utilization and high VOC emissions. Electrostatic coating improves material utilization and allows powder recycling with zero harmful volatile emissions. In conclusion, electrostatic coating is better for mass and irregular workpieces, while ordinary spraying suits simple flat workpieces for quick touch-up.
